Suspect fleeing investigators crashes into car driven by Knox County detective

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Three people, including a Knox County Sheriff’s Office detective, were injured Monday after a crash on Monday in East Knoxville.

A suspect reportedly ran a red light at the intersection of Bertrand Street and McCalla Avenue and crashed into a sheriff’s office vehicle after seeing an unmarked law enforcement vehicle. A narcotics detective with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

The suspect and a passenger were also injured in the crash. A sheriff’s office spokesperson said that charges are forthcoming and the investigation remains ongoing…
