KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Knox County has begun the process to remove the Coward Mill Dam on Beaver Creek.
The removal comes after the Knox County Commission approved the removal process in January 2025, and the removal began with the initial notching of the dam on March 30, 2026.

According to the commission, removing the dam would restore over 2,000 feet of Beaver Creek from stagnant water, allowing fish and other aquatic life to move freely in clean waters…
