Knoxville church offering drivers free gas for Easter weekend

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A Knoxville church is looking to help at least 400 drivers this Easter weekend by offering to fill up their gas tanks, free of charge.

Overcoming Believers Church is hosting a “Gas & Glory” giveaway event on Saturday, April 4. Beginning at 10 a.m., the church will be giving drivers $20 of gas at the Thumbs Up Exxon located at the corner of Magnolia Avenue.

“We are hoping to serve over 400 people with the $8,000 that we have for this event, $20 for each car. We’re hoping to serve 400 plus people and really engage and let people see that we are truly trying to operate as the hands and feet of Christ in our community,” Starlandria Starks told 6 News.

The church shared a video promoting the event for the whole community, with Pastor Daryl Arnold saying, “I don’t care if you’re in a Bentley, a Benz, or a bicycle with an engine in it, we’re putting gas in that car in celebration of Resurrection weekend.”…
