Man Charged After Downtown Knoxville Stabbing

A 24-year-old man is facing an attempted murder charge after a broad-daylight stabbing in downtown Knoxville on Thursday that left a 34-year-old man hospitalized but expected to survive.

The stabbing was reported around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Central Street and Main Street, according to authorities. Officers later found and detained a suspect near a nearby parking garage.

According to WVLT, the Knoxville Police Department identified the suspect as 24-year-old Xavien Richie and charged him with attempted second-degree murder. The outlet reports the 34-year-old victim was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center and is expected to recover.
