Changes coming for some Knox County middle school students

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knox County School Board of Education met Monday afternoon to discuss items to be voted on at Thursday’s meeting.

One item is to approve a school turnaround program improvement plan for Northwest Middle School. Assistant Superintendent of Impact and Policy, Kori Lautner, said it’s a comprehensive plan that would go into effect next school year.

“With some preliminary training beginning as early as this summer to increase and accelerate gains, honestly, that are already being made at the school,” she said. “Just to put some added boots on the ground support behind the school and the community to accelerate learning, both in the English Language Arts space and also in the Math improvement space.”…
