Knox County overdose deaths decline, but new street drug raises alarm

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – Overdose deaths in Knox County are down from last year, but experts warn a new street drug is deadlier than anything they have seen since fentanyl.

Fentanyl still accounts for the most drug-related deaths in the county. People are building a tolerance for it, according to officials. The Knox County Regional Forensic Center is finding three times the amount of fentanyl in overdose deaths than they did a couple years ago.
