KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The former St. Mary’s Hospital site moved a step closer to redevelopment Wednesday after the Design Review Board approved plans for townhomes on the 30-acre property.
The board approved a request for up to 21 townhomes on about an acre and a half along Huron Street, subject to design changes. The Knoxville Planning Commission approved the special use request on April 9.
The site sits directly above Fulton High School and is within walking distance of North Broadway. The former hospital, which operated from 1930 until its permanent closure in 2018, has remained largely empty…
