LPSS summer meal program offers free food for Lafayette kids

As schools across the parish let out for summer, parents and students can rest assured that meals will still be available to them.

The Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) Child Nutrition Department announced its 2026 Summer Feeding Program, which will provide free, nutritious meals to children throughout the community while schools are out of session.

Through a combination of on-site meal service and non-congregate meal box distribution, LPSS is working to ensure that children continue to receive healthy meals during the summer months. All children 18 years of age and younger are eligible to receive meals at participating sites at no cost, regardless of income or school enrollment status, LPSS said.
