LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Videos and posts about a disease known as “bobcat fever” have been spreading across social media, prompting concerns among cat owners about the potentially deadly illness.
Bobcat fever, formally known as cytauxzoonosis, is caused by the parasite Cytauxzoon felis. The parasite is commonly found in bobcats and is spread through ticks.
