Nevada man accused of trying to entice Acadiana child to commit suicide arrested and extradited to Lafayette, AG says

LAFAYETTE PARISH, La. (KPLC) – Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office says agents with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrested a 22-year-old Las Vegas man accused of exploiting an Acadiana child online and encouraging the child to take their own life.

Investigators say the case began after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

An arrest warrant was issued May 20 for Christian Jonathan Carnes, 22, of Las Vegas.

The attorney general’s office said Carnes faces multiple felony charges:

  • 3 counts of indecent behavior with juveniles
  • Criminal assistance to suicide
  • 2 counts of computer-aided solicitation of a minor
  • Extortion

Officials said the child did not die…
