LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development said some street flooding in Lafayette during heavy rain is by design, as water can get backed up in catch basins and storm drains during intense rainfall.
The issue is often the case in heavily developed parts of the city, such as Ambassador Caffery Parkway, because there are limited places the water can naturally go, according to DOTD.
