Rising floodwaters force Palmetto residents to prepare for possible evacuations

PALMETTO, La. (KLFY) — Floodwaters continue to rise in parts of Palmetto as water from farther north makes its way into St. Landry Parish, prompting residents to prepare for possible evacuations.

While the heavy rainfall from Tropical Storm Arthur has ended, residents say the flooding they are experiencing now is not from new rain, but flowing water from severe flooding in Avoyelles Parish earlier this week.
