(KMDL-FM) Here in South Louisiana, when we let the good times roll, it can take a while. Sometimes we’re still rolling good times, and other “things”, well past midnight. But when the party is over, or we’ve decided that we’re hungry, we need some late-night munchies that can satisfy our hunger, soak up the booze, and maybe ease the pounding we’re expecting in our heads tomorrow.
Then again, some of us are working during the dark hours, and we need to eat too. So, knowing what’s open and, more importantly, what’s good can help us survive the lonely hours during the darkest parts of the day.
What 3 Things Must Any Great Late Night Eatery Offer?
We asked you what you wanted in a late-night meal or snack, and the first response out of almost everyone’s mouth was it had to be quick. And it needed to be easy to pronounce and order because sometimes after too much beverage or too much smoke, talking can be a challenge.
After speed of service, price was often mentioned because after you’ve been out drinking, sometimes funds in the bank account can suffer a temporary setback.
And of course there is the menu. Late-night eats should not be complicated. They need to be simple with simple ingredients that have some flavor. This would not be the time when gastronomy should take precedence over meat, cheese, fried potatoes, and high-carb foods that can make the “mountains feel not so blue” in your gut.
