Silver Alert Canceled After 81-Year-Old Opelousas Man Is Found Dead Near I-49 Frontage Road in St. Landry Parish

OPELOUSAS, LA — The Silver Alert for an 81-year-old Opelousas man was canceled after authorities said he was found dead in St. Landry Parish.

Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said Lee Darbonne’s vehicle left the I-49 Frontage Road overnight and was later found by an employee of a local business on Tuesday, covered by dense foliage.

Alert issued for missing man

The Louisiana State Police issued the Silver Alert on behalf of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office after Darbonne was reported missing Monday morning from his home on Flamingo Lane in Opelousas.

Authorities said the request for the alert was received at 7:42 a.m. Darbonne was last seen around 10:30 a.m. Monday.
