A Lafayette man was sentenced Wednesday to spend the rest of his life in prison for the attempted murder of three police officers in a 2023 shootout that left officer Hali Bradford permanently disabled and a 19-month-old child dead.
John Nicholas, 33, was convicted in April of three counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
On Aug. 5, 2023, Nicholas was involved in a shootout with Lafayette Police. His 19-month-old niece, Kaci Cyprian, was killed in the shootout. Nicholas had been charged in but was not tried for the child’s death…
