NEW ORLEANS, La. (KLFY) — Two Acadiana educators brought home some well-earned hardware from the 20th annual Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Awards Gala.
Holly Boffy, principal of the W.D. & Mary Baker Smith Career Center, has been named the 2027 Louisiana High School Principal of the Year, and Lauren Williams Rentrop, principal of Patterson Junior High School, was named the 2027 Principal of the Year at the gala Saturday night at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans.
According to LPSS Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr., the Career Center has significantly broadened student opportunities under Boffy’s leadership, including an 800% increase in industry-based credential attainment and the development of a successful HiSET program that provides students with another pathway to earn a high school equivalency credential and continue toward college, career training or employment…
