A video showing a traditional Creole boucherie in Grand Coteau has drawn more than 220,000 views on Facebook, bringing national attention to a cultural tradition that will be featured at the fifth annual Creole Culture Day on Oct. 3.
The video shows a whole hog being prepared by hand at daybreak, gratons cooking in a black pot and boudin being stuffed by hand. Recipes and instructions are presented in French and Kouri-Vini, reflecting traditions passed down through generations.
