RAYNE, LA. (KLFY) — An arrest has been made in connection with a reported carjacking involving two elderly victims near the Piggly Wiggly that later lead to a vehicle pursuit, according to the Rayne Police Department.
Michael Dupuis Jr., also known as “T-MIKE,” 47, was arrested and charged with of one count of carjacking (felony) on Sept. 7.
The investigation began after two women, ages 68 and 69, were loading groceries into a vehicle in the parking lot of Piggly Wiggly when they were allegedly approached by Dupuis, police reported. During the encounter, Dupuis allegedly entered the vehicle and used physical force against the 68-year-old victim as she attempted to prevent him from taking her vehicle. Dupuis then allegedly fled the parking lot in the victim’s vehicle, which contained the victims’ purses, groceries, and other personal belongings…
