For Kai Drobish, clay isn’t just clay.
It starts as something from the earth; then she shapes it, fires it, and it eventually becomes a house, a church, a school or another place someone remembers.
Drobish calls her work Architectural Memories, a business where — inspired by iconic Louisiana landmarks or other sentimental places — she handcrafts 5-by-7-inch ceramic plaques and 3-by-3-inch ornaments that hang from a raffia tie.
“I call them architectural memories,” she said. “But really they’re reminders.”…
