LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — The Downtown Development Authority is asking Lafayette leaders to reconsider alcohol rules and the process for approving new bars, citing concerns about late-night crowds, public safety and police resources downtown.
DDA CEO Kevin Blanchard said the concerns have grown as more people gather outside bars and in parking areas late at night.
“After midnight downtown, we are having more and more issues with people tailgating in parking lots, tailgating in the parking garages, hanging out and tailgating on the streets and sidewalks,” Blanchard said. “A lot more folks are out on the streets than are in the nightclubs.”…
