St. Martin Parish considers up to $750K to clear blighted properties

ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (KLFY) — St. Martin Parish Government is considering applying for up to $750,000 in state funding to demolish and remove blighted properties in unincorporated areas of the parish.

The funding would come through Louisiana’s Community Development Block Grant Clearance Program, which provides money for the demolition of blighted residential and commercial structures.

Nick Sonnier, who works in grant management with Sellers & Associates, said St. Martin Parish has already identified several properties with blight, although the final number that could be addressed will depend on the size and cost of each demolition…
