LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — The I-49 Connector project has secured a $50 million investment to advance major highway improvements in Lafayette. The development will convert the intersection at Kaliste Saloom Road and U.S. 90 into a grade-separated interchange.
The funding originates from a competitive national grant provided by the Federal Highway Administration and the USDA, with $28 million allocated from the Federal Highway Administration. The $28 million federal award will be matched by $21.5 Million from LA DOTD and $500K from LCG for a $50 million project phase. Construction plans for the interchange include flyover bridges, ramps and roadway improvements designed to reduce traffic congestion, enhance safety and support regional economic growth.
