Police controversies, custody disputes and corruption shape Youngsville candidate forum

Candidates for Youngsville police chief, 15th Judicial District Court family court judge and district attorney outlined their priorities at a forum hosted Thursday by the Concerned Citizens of Youngsville.

Four candidates attended: Art LeBreton, who is challenging incumbent Youngsville Police Chief Jean-Paul Broussard; Susan Theall and Dyan Schnaars, who are running for a family court judgeship; and Kristian Earles, who is challenging incumbent District Attorney Don Landry.

Broussard, who is seeking a second term, and Landry, who is seeking a third term, said prior engagements prevented them from attending. John Trahan did not respond to the invitation.
