In just two years the cost of building a home in this area of Lafayette Parish spiked nearly 30%

The priciest area to build a home in Lafayette Parish got even pricier in 2023 as the average sale price was nearly 30% higher than just two years ago. Newly built homes in the southeastern part of the parish – the area ranging from U.S. 167 to U.S. 90 and south of Ambassador Caffery Parkway and Verot School Road – sold on average for $382,506 last year, up from $301,917 in 2021, according to data compiled by analyst Bill Bacque with Market Scope Consulting.
