OPELOUSAS, La. ( KLFY ) — Two pounds of high grade marijuana products were confiscated during a traffic stop in Opelousas, according to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz said narcotics detectives with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office received information on Feb. 5 in reference to Dexter Keith Broussard. Detectives said they received information that Broussard was expecting a package of illegal narcotics to be delivered to a residence at the 200 block of Ventre Boulevard. Broussard was previously arrested on Feb. 4 and charged with attempted manslaughter and disturbing the peace.

Upon further investigation, officials said they learned Broussard’s girlfriend, Lyric Lanie James, was tasked with accepting the package upon delivery. Detectives established physical surveillance at the residence and observed James was already on the scene. James was seen accepting a large box from the delivery service driver and then leaving the area with two minor children in her vehicle.
