Woman arrested, charged with setting fire to Lafayette apartment complex

LAFAYETTE, La. ( KLFY ) — A Lafayette woman was arrested and charged with intentionally setting a fire that damaged eight units and killed a dog in a Lafayette apartment complex in January, authorities said.

Jasmine Nolan, 25, is charged with 12 counts of aggravated arson and one count of aggravated cruelty to animals in connection with a fire at the Santa Rosa Apartment Complex on Jan. 4.

Lafayette fire investigators allege the fire was intentionally set in the bathroom.

Eight apartments were damaged in the fire, but only four of the eight units were occupied. Fourteen people were ultimately displaced by the fire, in which a dog died.

Authorities said Nolan turned herself in to authorities and was booked into the Lafayette Parish jail. Bond details were not released.

The fire remains under investigation.
