Cities under the shadow of this impending storm include Jackson, MS; Monroe, LA; Hattiesburg, MS; Alexandria, LA; and Meridian, MS. Beyond the direct impact zone, an expanded marginal risk area casts a pall over 119,815 square miles, threatening nearly 16 million people, encompassing major urban centers such as Houston, TX; New Orleans, LA; Birmingham, AL; Baton Rouge, LA; and Montgomery, AL.
