‘The Wreck Room’ by Nike open in Acadiana High School

SCOTT, La. ( KLFY )– Acadiana High School opened a Nike store in the school for its Business Academy students.

The Wreck Room is run by AHS Business Academy students as a part of their business course. Those who work at the store earn internship credits.

Acadiana High School Principal Jason St. Pierre said opening a store in school gives their business students real business experience.

“It’s time that we shift education to actual practical, real-world experiences that makes it relevant for the outside world,” St. Pierre said.

“We want businesses to come in and hire our kids and let them gain valuable experiences and certifications while they’re here on campus,” he continued.

Located on campus, The Wreck Room is open to students and staff during lunch, offering Acadiana Ram merchandise. Business students manage the store themselves.

Business Academy Director Alexandra Hebert said while students learn about credit cards, mortgage rates, interest rates, insurance premiums and more, the store allows students to gain hand-on experience of running a business.
