Mother of teen murder suspect says home surveillance video proves her son is innocent

LAFAYETTE, La. ( KLFY ) — The mother of a 17-year-old accused of murder in connection with the fatal shooting at a Lafayette barbershop says her son is innocent and home video surveillance can prove it.

Jeffrey Broussard was the first of three suspects arrested in connection with the deaths of 19-year-old Quincy Duhon Jr. and 48-year-old Johnny Trailer Jr . The shooting occurred around 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, at a barbershop on Louisiana Avenue between Mudd Avenue and Simcoe Street.

Broussard and the two other suspects, 17-year-old Shylon Mouton and 23-year-old Abram Landry , each face two counts of first-degree murder.

Broussard’s mother said authorities have arrested the wrong person and that home security video from a relative’s house can prove he has a solid alibi.
