Recent bicycle crashes across Acadiana have resulted in critical injuries, fatalities

ACADIANA ( KLFY ) — In just under two weeks, there have been several bicycle crashes in Acadiana. Three were deadly while two others left people in critical condition.

When it comes to bicycle safety, Louisiana State Police said it’s important for all road users to prioritize safety and awareness.

Safety tips to remember when traveling on a bicycle are: wear a helmet and reflective clothing, stay alert, and avoid biking while impaired. Bikers must also have specific light reflectors on their bikes, such as white headlights in front, red lights in rear, and side-mounted reflectors.

Here’s a look at recent crashes in Acadiana:

Fatal crash in Eunice

Eunice police responded to a crash that involved a bicycle and a dump truck at the intersection of N. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and E. Vine Avenue. The crash claimed the life of 60-year-old Kenneth Ceasor. Police said Ceasor was struck by the rear bumper of the truck when the driver attempted to back the vehicle into a private driveway. The crash remains under investigation.
