LAFAYETTE, La. ( KLFY ) — St. Thomas More ’s Brian Broussard Jr. is not just a playmaker on the field, but a five-time state champion.
Broussard has two championships in soccer, one in track, and two in football.
Originally from Opelousas, Broussard moved to Lafayette in the second grade. He has been playing soccer, football and running track since his freshman year at STM.
The high school senior said track and soccer helps him on the football field.
“The footwork in soccer and just like the competitiveness of track really helps out with the football aspect of it and just the stamina of soccer really helps out with football,” Broussard said.
Broussard is a three-year started in the Cougars’ secondary. In Week 1 against Carencro, Broussard had four interceptions.
Broussard said preparation is a big key for him to get pick after pick.

“Preparation was a big key. Watching film, knowing who we’re playing. The receivers, when the quarterback would go to a receiver, we know that the ball is most likely going to him so just staying on your toes and just breaking on the ball,” Broussard said.
