A St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s deputy, three inmates and one other person were arrested in connection with an attempt to smuggle drugs into the parish jail. Deputy Timothy Lazare, 36, of Opelousas, faces two counts of malfeasance in office, one count of criminal conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal facility, and introducing contraband into a penal facility, according to a Sheriff’s Office announcement.
