Lafayette election results are in: Federal, state, and local races decided

Lafayette elections have been cast and voted, and here are the results.

Federal races

According to the Secretary of State, incumbent Clay Higgins (R) has won the race for the Louisiana House District 3, beating out Xan John (R), Priscilla Gonzalez (D), and Sadi Summerlin (D).

The Louisiana House District 6 winner was Cleo Fields (D), who beat out Republican Elbert Guillory, Quentin Anderson (D), Wilken Jones (D) and Peter Williams (D). Republican Garrett Graves did not seek re-election for the seat after redistricting resulted in the district becoming more heavily Democratic.

State races

The Louisiana Public Service Commission District 2 race winner is Jean-Paul Coussan (R), who beat out Nick Laborde (D) and Julie Quinn (R).

Local races

Youngsville Police Chief has been voted on, and candidates Jean Paul “JP” Broussard (R) and Cody Louviere (R) will face off in a December run-off. Broussard received 46 percent of the votes, and Louviere received 40 percent.
