NEW IBERIA, La. ( KLFY ) — Commentator Matt Walsh’s recent film “Am I Racist” explores the ins and outs of diversity, equity and inclusion practices from a conservative perspective.
Some scenes were shot in New Iberia. Community activist Donovan Davis, who was part of the film, talked about his experience.
“I feel very privileged for the opportunity and to make something of it,” Davis said. “We thank God for our culture here in Louisiana, and we thank God for those guys that came down from California.”
Since the movie’s release Sept. 13, it has grossed $12.3 million in box office sales with a 96% audience score on the movie rating site, Rotten Tomatoes. Walsh traveled across the country, including south Louisiana, to find what racism is and how it can be exploited in different ways.

“The name to the narrative was him going all over through out south Louisiana, searching for race hustlers and all by the means of finding out the pros and cons of the subjective depths of our character to explore if we’re subconsciously or if we consciously racists,” Davis said.
