LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) – Lafayette police have arrested a suspect on murder and a slew of other charges after a deadly shooting that happened on Friday night. Jail records show Shawn Chaisson, 44, of Carencro, was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on charges of first-degree murder, possession of firearm or carrying concealed weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies, obstruction of justice (evidence tampering), illegal possession of stolen things, possession with intent to distribute Schedule II, possession of marijuana (14 grams or less), evidence of compulsory motor vehicle liability security contained in vehicle, operating vehicle with suspended license; other offenses, safety helmets, and careless operation.
