Longtime Breaux Bridge city councilman Ernest Ledet laid to rest

BREAUX BRIDGE, La. ( KLFY ) — A pillar of the Breaux Bridge community has been laid to rest.

The funeral of Ernest Ledet, a longtime city council member, took place Saturday attended by over 100 people at Saint Francis of Assisi Church.

Ledet’s casket was brought to the church for the funeral service in a carriage, with his family following close behind him. After the funeral, attendees gathered at the cemetery to say their final goodbyes.

Friends and loved ones of Ledet say they will remember him for his acts of kindness and selflessness.

Scotty Borel, a councilman who served with Ledet, saidhe has nothing but admiration for the late councilman.

“When people say that you are a pillar of the community, well he was the blanket in the community,” Borel said. “He did so much for the community and for the city of Breaux Bridge, it’s amazing, as you can see the turnout says a lot for itself.”
