Lafayette mayor-president wants to make Bertrand Drive safer for walking and cycling

Work is underway to make Bertrand Drive in Lafayette safer for pedestrians and the city wants the public’s input. A public forum on the Bertrand Drive Revitalization Project was held at SLCC on Wednesday, December 18. The mayor-president addressed her plan to make Lafayette streets safer for foot traffic. Some business owners believe this is long overdue. Mayor-President Monique Blanco Boulet wants to make Bertrand Drive safer for everyone in the area by adding a six-foot sidewalk on one side of the street and a 12-foot pathway that will accommodate both cyclists and pedestrians on the other side.
