The Lafayette Parish School Board wrapped up its final meeting of the year on Thursday, December 19. The superintendent indicated that he’s exploring more cost-cutting measures to fill a major budget gap that’s already led to some school closures and consolidations. The last school board meeting of 2024 has ended, and going into 2025, the district is facing major financial issues. There was a keen awareness by all that the district is faced with a multi-million dollar gap in the budget. The superintendent said there will be cost-saving discussions coming in 2025.
