RAYNE, La. (KLFY) — Rayne High’s Deyton Young signed with Missouri Baptist University to wrestle. Young said her hard work will translate to the next level.
“Give everything I have when I get there in school, my education and on the mat. They getting a full package,” she said.
This senior made school history by becoming Rayne High’s first female wrestler to sign a full-ride scholarship offer.
How does it feel to make school history?
“It really like shows that I’ve really come a long way. If you were to ask me, if you would’ve told me that I would have been here a few years back, I never would have thought so like it means a lot to me that my hard work is like paying off,” she said.
Young is used to wrestling boys and girls in high school, but in college, she will only wrestle girls.

Young is looking forward to perfecting her craft amongst her peers.
“You know, they say iron sharpens iron so I’m going to get to be in a room with a bunch of talented women wrestlers practicing, training and getting better. With a coaching staff and a school staff that cares. That really shows that they care and they believe in my dreams and my goals. I’m excited to become a better person there.”
