HENDERSON, La. ( KLFY ) — After being without a post office for over a year, the town of Henderson has a new plan in motion to bring back mail services.
Henderson Mayor Sherbin Collette said more than 100 mailboxes will be installed at the Old City Hall in the town to help with ongoing mail delivery challenges.
“I just wanted it to be fair. That’s all I’m asking for. And now at least we’ve got mail coming in. The people in Henderson are elated — it’s the best Christmas present I could have given them,” Collette said.
Henderson’s post office closed its doors on Oct. 31, 2023. Since then, people have had to travel outside of town to get their mail, and some, like the elderly, have had no transportation.

“They have to drive, we have a lot of elderly people, especially in the area there is the oldest part of Henderson, and they weren’t getting their mail anymore, when the post office closed, they had to drive eight miles away to Breaux Bridge,” Collette said.
