Lafayette’s busiest fire station celebrates renovation, reopening ahead of Christmas

Lafayette’s busiest fire station reopened this month after a $2.1 million renovation. Firefighters at Station No. 2, located at 1013 Mudd Ave., respond to about 1,700 incidents per year. Because of the station’s central location near Louisiana Avenue and the Evangeline Thruway, its firefighters are frequently called to assist other stations, bringing that number to about 4,000 incidents per year.
