Seen him? Baton Rouge murder suspect may have Lafayette connections, authorities say

LAFAYETTE, La. ( KLFY ) — The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in locating 18-year-old Tyler Davis, who is wanted in connection with the death of another teen whose body was found in a sugarcane field. Authorities believe Davis has connections in the Lafayette area.

Davis is wanted on charges of second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office at 225-343-9234 or Captial Region Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP (7867).

Per a BRProud.com report , Davis is wanted after authorities identified the body of an 18-year-old found in a sugarcane field as Ja’Morius Mitchell, a Plaquemine resident who had been reported missing days earlier.

Authorities said a local cane farmer reported a fire burning in a field near Sid Richardson Road in Addis. When deputies arrived around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, they discovered Mitchell’s body in the field.

The Plaquemine Police Department confirmed Mitchell had been the subject of a missing person’s investigation. He was last seen on Thursday, Dec. 12.
