Tucked away in what could be considered the least inspiring school setting is an educator with an infectious passion and energy for her job. Mary Ann Clay has never been recognized as teacher of the year, and she’s not the one showered with gifts during teacher appreciation week. She is the lone teacher at the Lafayette Juvenile Detention Center, which recently celebrated the state’s first high school graduation at such a facility.
