2024 started out deadly in Lafayette Parish with a New Year’s Day fatal shooting on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Lafayette. That homicide was followed by others, including an 18-year-old Carencro High School senior shot to death as he stepped off a school bus, a triple homicide at a College Road apartment whose victims included a university adjunct professor, a double fatal shooting at a Louisiana Avenue barbershop/salon, and a fatal shooting where a man’s identical twin was mistakenly arrested.
