Fire officials determined that the fire started in the wall of the bathroom, where an electrical outlet malfunctioned and ignited the wall studs and spread to the attic.
“The home sustained moderate fire damage. Due to the amount of damage and disconnected utilities, the family was displaced,” fire officials said in a news release.
The Lafayette Fire Department said the fire was ruled an accident.
