Louisiana Wrong-Way Driver Killed in Three-Vehicle St. Landry Parish Crash

Port Barre, LA – A tragic crash involving three vehicles claimed the life of a local driver early Monday morning in St. Landry Parish. Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to the incident on U.S. Highway 190 near Lakeshore Drive shortly before 2:00 a.m. on January 13, 2025.

Crash Details

The crash resulted in the death of 32-year-old Brandon Taylor, a Port Barre resident, who was driving a 2024 Toyota Camry eastbound in the westbound lanes of US Hwy 190. Investigators say Taylor’s vehicle collided head-on with a 2a018 Chevrolet Silverado before being struck by a 2013 Freightliner truck, both of which were traveling west.

Injuries and Investigation

All drivers involved were properly restrained. Taylor sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Chevrolet driver suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, while the Freightliner driver was unharmed.

As part of the ongoing investigation, toxicology samples were obtained from Taylor and the Chevrolet driver for analysis. The Freightliner driver voluntarily provided a breath sample, which detected no alcohol.
