On almost every sideline of a sporting event, there is one unique figure that draws the crowd in like no other: the mascot. From pumping up the crowd with various sideline shenanigans to being the school’s self-proclaimed entertainment officer, mascots serve an important purpose in sports.
In college sports, these figures are household names putting a face to the school’s fan bases.The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns are one of few Division I universities without an official mascot, and it’s been that way since 2013.
