CROWLEY, La. — Trey Prejean, 31, pleaded guilty to manslaughter on Tuesday, January 14, in the death of Dalvin Washington, 38, of Rayne, and was immediately taken into custody by the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Department pending sentencing.
This plea ends a four-year investigation by Detective Ricky Gray and the Rayne Police Department of a shooting that occurred on September 21, 2020, on Arceneaux Drive near The Boulevard in Rayne, where Prejean shot and killed an unarmed Washington in the back.
