ST. MARTINVILLE, La. ( KLFY ) — A man has been sentenced in the 2022 murder of a Breaux Bridge man, authorities said.
Landan Collette, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, had previously pled guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of 26-year-old Cole Horton . Collette was sentenced to 33 years in prison at hard labor, according to 16th Judicial District Attorney Bo Duhé.
Prosecutors said Collette had a verbal disagreement with Horton on Jan. 10, 2022, when Horton arrived at Collette’s home to retrieve a piece of jewelry. Collette pulled a gun and shot the unarmed victim several times before fleeing the scene, officials said.
