Freezing temps, historic snowfall predictions prompt warnings to stay off Acadiana roads

Acadiana residents should prepare to stay home and off the roads beginning Monday night, officials said, as the region prepares for an historic storm that could bring as much as 8 inches of snow.

The latest forecast calls for a chance sleet and freezing rain starting after midnight Monday. On Tuesday during the day, the precipitation is expected to turn to all snow with most areas around Lafayette predicted to see 4-6 inches, with as much as 10 inches possible in areas, according to the National Weather Service.
